How to Prepare for Pom, Dance, and Cheer Tryouts!

It’s Audition and Tryout Season!

This is the time of year when girls everywhere are preparing for cheer, pom, or dance tryouts!  It can be stressful, it can be exhausting, but most of all it should be rewarding! Regardless of the outcome, you should always feel proud for putting yourself out there and working to accomplish your goals.  Below are three very important things to remember as you go through any audition process.

  • Commit to giving it 100%:  You started this process with energy, and you better finish it with energy!  No matter what happens, continue to work hard and push forward. Yes, you might have some bad or discouraging days, but never give up!  Always remember why you started and use those reasons to stay on track.
  • Don’t compare yourself to others:  You bring something special and unique!  Stop worrying about what others are doing in their preparation.  Focus on yourself, and have confidence in your skills and talents.  The judges aren’t looking for a team of identical robots. They want a group of diverse, beautiful people.
  • Visualize your end goal:  We hear about visualization a lot.  It applies to so many areas of our lives, but when it comes to tryouts and auditions, visualizing yourself on the team can really help you excel.  You will have more confidence, and you will help the judges and coaches to see that you belong there.

This list of tips is just the beginning!  You can create your own reminders that will help along the way.  Commit from the beginning of your prepping process, believe in yourself and your abilities, and know that everything happens for a reason!  The reality is that not everyone can make every team, but the fact that you chose to work towards a goal and put yourself out there, that’s the real accomplishment!  Be SO proud of yourself.

Keep counting it out, Ladies…
